Eminent Exhaustion

Inspired by Nick Slater

In this piece, I channeled the clean, subject-focused style of designer Nick Slater to explore the feeling of creative burnout. Tasked with choosing an emotive word and a designer to emulate, I paired “Exhaustion” with Slater’s bold, vector-based approach to create a visual narrative that many design students know all too well. Using only shades of blue and white, the illustration leans into a cool palette that reflects the mental and emotional weight of constant creative output. The title, Eminent Exhaustion, plays on the phrase “exhaustion is eminent”, a nod to how expected and widespread burnout has become among creatives.
